WS_FTP is a program you can use to access your web files. Use this
to upload and download files. To and From your computer and the
web server.
To setup WS_FTP or WS_FTP32
simply use the following screen shots as an example template. The
following example illustrates a typical setup where the domain name
is ACME.COM. The three (3) things you must know to configure
the FTP program are:
- The
Host Name is always your web address minus the http:// protocol.
Example:
If your domain name is acme.com, then your ftp hostname
would be acme.com.
- The
User ID is always the name of your domain (leaving off the .Com).
- The
Password always starts with a capital IP and is followed by 6
numbers.
- Profile name
is whatever you want it to be.
- The
Host Type is always Automatic
Detect, and Save Password should be checked so that you don't
have to enter the password every time you log on.
However, if there are users that should not have access to your
website files, then the Save Password should NOT be checked.
- You may want
to set your Local PC Initial Directory to avoid having
to lookup the directory where your web files are stored (on your
computer).
- All other
fields can be ignored.
- Don't forget
to save your profile so that you won't have to reconfigure the
next time you access via FTP.
